Drive It Like Your Grampa

What is the number one thing you need to know about avoiding down time when using an Argo? The answer is simple: Keep your speed down, especially when there are potential hidden hazards. “Drive it like your Grampa” is a humorous reminder often heard in Pioneer’s Argo Training classes. Unnecessary damage to off-road equipment, such as track loss, broken axles, and chain damage, can be directly attributed to driving aggressively at excessive speeds. Your Grampa becomes cautious when turning a car into a blind corner and you, as an equipment operator, need to reduce your speed when entering into areas with potential hidden hazards.

Hidden hazards include:

  • Driving through tall grass,
  • Traveling over uneven ground,
  • Running through dense cover in the bush,
  • Driving over logs,
  • Traversing through valleys

80% of damage to off road equipment is caused by only 20% of operators. Pioneer encourages all drivers to channel their inner elderly wisdom and operate equipment appropriately for the environment they are traveling through.

For more information on proper off-road equipment operation be sure to attend one of Pioneer’s training courses.
